Dr. Xu is recruiting Ph.D. students who will work on one of the following research areas:
- Design optimizaton and deep learning for digital/cyber manufacturing.
- Physics-based and deep learning-based design of microstructural materials.
The prospective student will primarily focus on computational research.

Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- No unexplained gaps in the CV.
- Programming skills in Python and MATLAB.
- Self-motivated, strong interests in coding and quantitative methods.
- Experience in conducting Finite Element Analysis is a plus.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning is a plus.
